Life Skills Crash Course! Are you ready to move out?

Are you ready to move out?
Life Skills Crash Course
January 25, 2020
Mt. Rainier, Maryland

Graduation is on the horizon. You’re so excited and ready for the next stage in your life. New living situation, one where you call the shots. New classes. New challenges. New adventures. New friends. FREEDOM! It’s exhilarating.

Are you excited for college and completely nervous to live away from home for the first time? That’s totally normal- it’d be strange if you weren’t a little nervous. It’s exciting and new- but admit it, you’re a little nervous too! One minute you’re excited and ready for your brand-new life, the next you’re panicking, worrying if you’re ready enough.

I don’t want you to blow through your scholarship package and have to call home, begging for money (yikes!) or take out extra loans (double yikes!). I don’t want you to miss out on meeting an amazing person because you get sweaty just thinking about handshakes.

You are not alone in feeling apprehensive, but that doesn’t make you feel any better. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you can feel more prepared. You can be the person who walks onto campus with her head held high, feeling confident and ready to take on new challenges.

I am teaching Life Skills Crash Course, January 25, 2020 with E V E R Y T H I N G you need to know to be R E A D Y to move out!

In this one-day retreat, you will learn and practice life skills that you’ll need for living away from home! After the event, you’ll feel more confident and prepared to handle whatever comes your way, on campus and off because you will have learned and practiced:

• Making a great first impression in a professional or personal setting
• Public speaking
• Being assertive without being aggressive
• Active listening, including listening to & responding to other viewpoints
• Managing stress & high-pressure situations
• Repairing clothes in a pinch
• Creating & sticking to a budget
• Filing taxes
• Writing & sending professional correspondence
• and more!

It’s literally a one-day crash course in “Adulting” basics- all that stuff you *should* know, but no one sits down and teaches you.  Come to the event, leave with increased confidence, new skills, and a take-home book with even more skills and info!

You’ll learn these crucial skills by:

  1. Creating a space where you feel comfortable to share
  2. Taking teeny, tiny risks by being creative
  3. Practicing a new skill through hands-on activities
  4. Reflecting on what you’ve learned through group discussion
  5. Celebrating your new skills!

On January 25, Teen Girl Whisperer and MissHeard Media founder Lindsey Turnbull will teach young women getting ready to fly out of the nest to navigate living away from home for the first time by re-affirming and practicing everything they need to know!

This event includes lunch, snacks, small group activities, and take-home extras, so space is extremely limited. Give yourself a boost as you step into the real world?
