by Lindsey Turnbull
The holidays are right around the corner. You want to give the perfect gifts, the ones from the hearts, but you’ve got a budget to stick to! Maybe you’ve got a huge gift list, but a small budget, or a big budget, but no clue where to start.
I get it!
You need options for thoughtful gifts, from the heart.
So, here’s the most versatile gift guide: gifts for anyone, any age, any gender, any budget!
BUDGET: DIY (free) to $5!
These gifts are perfect for someone on a budget! At $5 or less, they’re thoughtful and from the heart- and won’t break the bank! Perfect for friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, etc.
๐ Make some sweet treats! Bake cookies, brownies, breads, or any other tasty treat for someone you love. You may have most supplies on hand already!
๐ Homemade peppermint bark only requires three ingredients (chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, candy canes), doesnโt need baking, and can be customized lots of different ways!
๐ Make a collage for someone you love. Include photos, ticket stubs, and other tokens from your adventures together.
๐ Make a custom playlist. Back in my day, we burned CDs for one another, but a playlist is just as good!
๐ Write a poem or gift someone your art, if youโre the creative type.
๐ Give a dessert in a jar. There are lots of desserts where you can layer the ingredients in a pretty jar (Mason, thrifted, or otherwise upcycled), and gift someone some future snacks. Donโt forget to print out directions too!
๐ Create a thoughtfulness jar. Find, recycle, upcycle a clear jar and fill it with handwritten notes, affirmations, memories, and reminders of why you love the recipient of the gift. This is a big hit with relatives, and it comes from the heart!
BUDGET: $10-20
At a slightly higher budget, these gifts are perfect for friends and relatives.
๐ Print and frame a cute photo of you and the recipient together.
๐ Create your own themed gift basket. Pick a theme (journaling, spa day, art, whatever you like!) and fill a small, reusable basket with goodies. Check Targetโs Dollar Spot and the Dollar Store for bargains!
- A journaling basket might have a journal, a candle, and some cute pens, for example.
- A tea basket might contain a mug, some fancy loose leaves, a tea ball, honey spoon etc.
- For spa day, add a face mask, bath salts, bubble bath, and a candle.
๐ Shop the MissHeard Store! Curate the perfect sticker set for someone or grab the The Girlโs How-To Guide to Authenticity!
๐ Know someone who loves to cook or bake? Get them a set of olive oils, spices, or flavored sugars so they can experiment in the kitchen.
๐ Give the gift of plant parenthood! Easy plants like pothos and spider plants are hardy, plus they clean the air and brighten a room. You can pick up a pretty pot, or decorate a clay one for a more personal touch.
๐ Gift a night of fun! A board or card game can start a new family tradition. (Personally, I love banana Scrabble/Bananagrams. And rummy!)
๐ Know someone whoโs all about sustainability? Water bottles, re-usable utensils, or lunch sets could be the perfect gift for someone who wants to be a little more green!
BUDGET:ย $20+
Gifts for close family and relatives for when you want to splurge a little!
๐ The gift of cozy: I donโt care who they are, they probably need a super-soft blanket in their life. With so many options, including weighted, you can find a blanket to please anyone.
๐ Books, books, books. Gift a hardcover or coffee table book.
๐ Movie passes! ย Movies in theaters are back- gift your favorite cinephile movie theater passes (and chip in for some snacks).
๐ Animal lover? Symbolically adopt an animal from a zoo, the WWF, or an animal rescue. They usually come with a photo, some info about the animal, and a plushie.
๐ Personalized anything! Make the gift extra personal with engraving or embroidery options. Bracelets, robes, pajamas, picture framesโฆlots of things can be personalized!
๐ Custom art. For anyone who has a specific interest or hobby, have a small piece commissioned by an artist. A note: $50 isnโt going to buy you a Dali piece, but you can get something small and special OR some personalization on an existing piece.
๐ A Bluetooth speaker! Portable sound, portable party! A Bluetooth speaker is sure to please anyone!
๐ A DIY Kit. Who doesnโt love to make their own stuff? You can get hot sauce kits, make your own Boba, brew your own root beer, even grow your own coffee or mushrooms from a kit. Check a shop like Uncommon Goods and see what you can DIY.
