October Theme: Month of the Girl
Call for Submissions!
October 11th was International Day of the Girl, a day where organizations around the world focus on the needs, rights, and freedoms of girls. This year’s theme is “Skilled Girl Force,” which hopes to address the needs of millions of girls entering a new, highly automated, economy.
The theme is Month of the Girl, in honor of Day of the Girl, which was October 11th.
This month is also Bullying Prevention Month, Latinx History Month (Sept 15- Oct 15), and LGBTQ history Month. All of these can be tied into Day of the Girl, so please feel free to write on any of these topics!
Topics for Month of the Girl might include: a reflection on what it means to be a girl in 2018, what you hope for future girls, your own hopes and dreams, etc. You can also highlight an organization or a person that is doing great work for girls.
We invite you to share your reflections on the state of girlhood in 2018.
We invite you to share articles, interviews, listicles, personal essays, art, poetry, photography, playlists, music- whatever format helps you explain the state of girls in 2018.
