Be the Change You Wish to See
by Brittani Dozier
Change. We all experience it one way or another, but are we changing for the better? Are we changing the world and the people in it? Personally, I do little things like volunteering, spreading prayer, and encouraging others because I know, in the long run, they will surely make a change. The most important type of change is inner change. When we’re all working toward self-improvement, in turn, the world is improving and becoming a better place.
Encouraging others is my way of making the world a better place. I’m always open to listen or give advice when people need it most. Of course, I’m always looking for new ways to change the world, but for right now, I feel that encouraging peers and spreading positivity is the biggest contribution to changing the world I can give. It might not be much, but I believe changing the world morally is just as important as physical contributions to making it a better place.
As I sit back and look at the world, I realize that I’m blessed to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Although America is not perfect, it is a great place to live that offers several liberties, freedoms, and opportunities. But then I look at the unfortunate regions of America, and I realize that there are so many people and areas struggling for a way of life that I feel is just handed to me.
Seeing things like this make me want to do something bigger, and it should make you want to do something too! We need to make this world a better place for our fellow citizens. Approximately 500,000 people are homeless in America, and 16 million Americans barely survive without food. I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to be the change we wish to see in this world.
Please don’t take this life that you have for granted. I hope that we all take time to be thankful and realize that we can make a change. There are so many unspoken ideas that could literally make the world do a complete turnaround. We can be a revolution. We can be the change that we wish to see.
I want you to ask yourself what you can do to change the world’s situation for the better. I dare you to be the change you wish to see in this world.
