2020: A Snoozed Alarm

“YOUR LIFE IS NOT AN ALARM CLOCK. SO, STOP PRESSING SNOOZE BUTTON FOR COMFORT ZONE.”
-Piyush Rajput
Beep!!!! Beep!!!! BEEEEEPPPP!!!!!
You, yes you! Are you going to wake up or what?! Get up already!
WHAT I SAID IN DEC 2019: “Chill bro!! It’s soon gonna be 2020!” Meaning: It’s gonna be the happiest year of our lives, a thrilling T20 cricket match which ends in a flash. Hurray!
Well, I guess….2020 took the ‘thrilling’ part very seriously. It’s only been like four months since 2020 rang but it already ringing without a dismissal button….
I had the realization that from floods to wildfires, earthquakes to pandemics, this alarm has been ringing every day, attempting to wake us up.
What has 2020 given us so far but stress, inflation, economic problems, depression, quarantine and deaths? Well that’s when my brains start storming and two thoughts start clashing, resulting in the question, 2020: An awakening or bother?
Well I strongly believe that it is an awakening, a blessing, a chance for us to embrace a mesmerizing dawn a new day for Humanity.
Undoubtedly, floods and fires destroyed lives, earthquakes shook and shattered many happy homes, The Coronavirus pandemic is pushing us into quarantine causing stress and depression. But still, is it possible that all these stressors give a hope to life? That all this destruction paved a way for construction? Because of coronavirus, I can finally enjoy quality time with my dear ones as well as myself. Thousands of deaths, thousands of deep wounds, yet millions of survivors, fighters and billions of prayers.
In my opinion, we are striving to fight this sound; anxious to silent the alarm but all in vain. Because deep down we all know what therapist Tara Daniels said:
“THERE IS NO SNOOZE BUTTON ON LIFE.”
I think this alarm is trying to arouse the humanity buried deep within us, the humanity which is lost somewhere in this war for power and money. Some of us have already responded to the first alarm to start anew, but those who are still hitting snooze should wake before it’s too late. Hopefully, everybody will soon recognize themselves. Only then will the dawn of humanity finally rise above the horizon. That’s when this alarm will pipe down, that’s when we are all going to perceive the meaning of life.
Listen closely, the 2020 alarm is giving us a chance to be free and listen to chirping birds of brightness. We must not miss it! So let’s be hopeful to hear the doves of abundance and cure…
